Three short comments. Glad you can get a taste of home....may not be that crispy. Glad to see your face. I miss it. KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN. I'm a bigger target, but you're in crazyland.
Why is it that many americans (not all) when living abroad just seem to criticize and find faults in all their experiences abroad. I think you would get much more out of this wonderful experience if you focus on the beauty, culture, and wonderful people that I'm sure Yemen has (I personally haven't been there but have always been fascinated by it). And yeah, don't thry to fit everything into your preconceived american notions of how things should be. The world cannot be measured by a single mold. Just live it, enjoy it as much as you can, and break your mold. Peace!
Taryn, I have finally read your entire blog. In one sitting. While at work. And I am hugely entertained by you. And I miss you... O'Hanleys has gone into terrible disarray without you. I am glad to see that you are enjoying your time and learning and seeing so much. Sorry to hear of the recent bad luck. Stay safe! Michelle
23 and on the move... to Yemen! After years of talking about it I have finally decided to make a bold and audacious move, I'm moving to the Middle East! Although quite ill-prepared I know this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and simply could not be missed. So for one year I will attempt to immerse myself in an entirely foreign culture and way of life. I hope to learn the language and gain invaluable insight and experience into Muslim culture. What an adventure this shall be! This blog chronicles my exploits, absurdities, and adventures during my Year-long Yemeni Adventure.
